Several times now I’ve been “stranded” and had to call a cab because Uber simply says, “No car available.” We’re talking a major US city, not some backwater desert.

Carriers are obsolete
This is the type of budding technology that deprecates spending billions of dollars on super carriers etc. Much of what’s necessary to build drone swarms is readily available commercially.
