This afternoon my “sim card kit” arrived from T-mobile. The process of unlocking my phone was time consuming due to a conflict between Norton 360 and iTunes on my Macbook, but was otherwise painless. After unlocking the iPhone 4s, I simply popped in the new T-mobile sim card and booted up. The phone immediately found the network and after a few more minutes online to setup a new account, I’m up an running with voice, data and text. To recap from an earlier post, the new T-mobile plan is a full $70/month cheaper than AT&T with 4Gb more data, unlimited txt, and just a few less minutes. I’ll be out and about in the next few days and will empirically test coverage on major freeways etc. around the DC Metro area.
