Lonely and Depressed

Our organization recently spent close to $2M tearing out circa 90’s cubes and installing a fairly state of the art collaboration center. About a month ago we implemented a full return to office policy. My expectations were that after maybe a week or so we would be back in full swing and enjoying the new facility that truly promotes teamwork. Instead, the place has been nothing but a ghost town, in spite of my best efforts to engage with leadership to promote working together or at least getting our contractor teams back on site Tue-Thu.

What it feels like being the only one who cares about engaging in-person with his/her “agile” team

This afternoon, I had several important meeting where I needed to get across target and transition systems architecture. With 100 whiteboard at my disposal and a team contractually obligated to be on site, I was forced to collaborate the same way we have for the last two years via Teams and dog slow back and forth screen sharing.

This is all very depressing when the only reason whatsoever that I engaged with this organization is to TRY and help them evolve their abysmal customer service. Am I truly wasting my time?
