Like virtual reality, 3D printing tech is by no means new. But, for the last decade it has mostly required significant tinkering skills to produce both a printer and prints of a reasonable quality. But, in the last few years the tech has really hit its stride and is now a true commodity with even Microcenter jumping on the bandwagon carrying a full range of 3D printers, parts, and a zillion different kinds of plastic filament to feed the printers.
While I am not shy and am fairly skilled at tinkering, I prefer to start with something that works. So I recently took the plunge and purchased a Creality Ender 3 S1 from Microcenter to explore what all the hoopla is about. The S1 is basically a manufacturer modded version of Creality’s mega popular Ender 3 with many after market improvements already done.
So I bought the printer, took it out of the box, did some very minor assembly and was able to get a really nice print immediately with little to no tinkering and tuning. Pretty amazing!
I will likely end up with a whole series of posts about this amazing tech!
