The other day I was obliged to step in and give a couple of different presentations in front of technical audiences using Power Point decks assembled by other team members. The material was reasonably familiar (n-tier web architecture); but, nearly every slide was an impossible tangled eye chart.
As engineers and architects we love to create “wire diagrams;” however, they absolutely stink in terms of presentation material for other than one->few discussions. Please folks, when creating talking decks, even for technical material, put yourself in the audience’s position and create simple slides that convey a message to the viewer in just a few seconds. These decks aren’t technical documentation!
