I’m currently in the process of upgrading the lighting in our home to Z-wave control. The process is complicated by the fact that 2/3 of all the lights are 3-way/4-way. While working on some of the wiring, I came to a box where the Neutral (white) wire was directly tied to the back on a 3-way switch. Turns out the white was powering the entire 4-way circuit. WTF! I go up in my attic and find this rats nest junction box buried under a pile of insulation w/no staples for the wires and the box just floating. Inside the box, someone had reversed all the wires white/black. I think it had to do with some bumble-F home owner putting in his own ceiling fan and F-ing up all the wiring. So now I have to sort it all out and rewire it before I can get to the new switch installation. As Bill Engvall use to say… HERES YOUR SIGN!
