FYI for anyone looking to upgrade their lighting to LED. I would avoid the Cree light bulbs sold at Home Despot like the plague. About 12 months ago I bought and installed a bunch of them. Over the course of the year, they’ve died like flies… honestly I’m not sure they last any longer than […]

Sure we believe you…
So Apple, if a “degraded” battery causes such problems, are you slowing down your iPads? How about my MacBook Pro? iWatches? If not, then exactly what is so different/critical about iPhones that makes it imperative to slow them down vs. the 100’s of millions of other Apple devices out there? If it’s unique to the […]
A sensitive case
Even though I’ve been switching back and forth between Windows and linux for over 10 years, I still get caught out by Windows being non-case sensitive… arrrgggghhh!
A good start
A step in the right direction. I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that they’re now being sued in multiple countries around the world… http://time.com/5081679/apple-apologizes-iphone-slowdown-controversy-battery-price/
Superior design
Gotta love it… a $200 Samsung home camera that only allows static IP assignment if you use the wired network port. If you want to use wifi, then you’re restricted to dynamic IP. Wtf! This had to be designed by some marketing schmuck that knows nothing about networking. Dynamic vs static IP has absolutely jack […]
Battery issues
This article only mentions the iPhone; but, I would bet $$ that Apple is dogging tablets as well. A few year old iPad is now essentially useless due to it’s snail pace even after a factory reset + OS upgrade. https://gizmodo.com/how-to-tell-if-your-iphone-battery-is-screwed-and-what-1821554872
Tear down
Have you ever wondered what’s inside that little white Ez-Pass box attached to your windshield… well no longer thanks to a handy Dremel tool. It’s a circuit board with one chip, a few passives, a build in antenna, and a big fat purple lithium battery. We found out on the PA Turnpike during the Thanksgiving […]
Is it really that hard?
With 2017 technology, you’d think it wouldn’t be that difficult to produce a safe automated system for trains running in a controlled environment. Good grief, I think I could cobble together a bunch of IoT sensors and do the job for <$1000/car easy. https://wtop.com/tracking-metro-24-7/2017/12/metro-acknowledges-smoother-rides-better-dont-expect-soon/
Supply chain pricing
Ordered a few watch/button batteries off Amazon. Thought maybe I would 2-day ship them. Couldn’t be much right, they don’t weigh anything and they’re very small. Guess again!!! $89.82 for shipping. So I went over to walmart.com and did the same thing… they wanted $260 for shipping. You gotta laugh at the insanity! I’m pretty sure […]
Marketing genius
Gotta love the marketing genius… brand new home automation product that states: “Works with incandescent lighting and resistive loads (do NOT use with tube lights, motors, fans, or loads under 20 Watts).” Hate to tell you folks, but incandescent lights are all but GONE and most LED lights operate at under 20w). Doh!
