Initial experience with Windows 8 is that it is an unfinished pile of poo. Upgraded using the wizard and it automatically installed 32-bit version on my i5 x64 processor with no choice given…$39 down the tube. Bought 60Gb SSD for the core OS install, then found out that Windows 8 applications automatically install on the C:\Program Files directory, which cannot be changed without a registry hack that doesn’t fully work. This is a media center PC, so naturally I wanted to add network drive pictures, movies, etc. to the respective Win 8 apps. Nope… no dice. Windows 8 expects you to have all your media on… you guessed it… your C: drive libraries. With Windows 8, you can’t add a network location to the libraries without it trying to copy all your media over to the C: drive. Conclusion… Microsoft pushed Windows 8 out the door half cooked. Highly recommend not upgrading until at least Service Pack 1 or 2. Live tile concept is neat, but it is definitely not worth upgrading.
